RIDING A SCOOTER IN BARCELONA
Innovation has reached the big cities with the implementation of the scooter as a new method of private transport.
A year and a half ago, scooters still were children’s things, but today they are a means of transport used by a large part of the population in the most urban centres. By 2018, there were approximately 20,000 private scooters and more than 5,000 to rent or shared scooters.
The pollution of these scooters is lower than the one produced by other means of private transport such as car or motorbike. The pollution that may generate is in the production of the batteries, but not while the use of the scooters. They are charged by an internal battery of its own, which has an average speed of 25km/h and an average range of 12/16 kilometers.
There are 2 ways to use the scooter:
– One of the options is to buy the scooter for private use. In this way you know that it is always available and the amortization of it may be lower.
– The second option in terms of mobility is to use a scooter in a shared mode. There are companies that are in charge of placing scooters in different points of the city, which you can take and pay a price depending on the time you have used it. The availability of the same one, could be a disadvantage.
The use of scooters involves respecting a bunch of rules imposed by the City Council of each city. With the increased use of this means they tried to reduce the chaos that could result, both for pedestrians who are on the sidewalk and for drivers located on the road.
In this way, the most frequent accidents, as running over pedestrians, have been reduced. Also, it is dangerous for the person who rides, becasue if you don’t have that much practice, riding a scooter in this way takes some risks.
But the great advantages of the scooter is: the facility to ride, the practicality in the moment of storing it, attainable speed and eco-friendly.
At All4Flat we encourage you to try this new means of transport! Feel your own autonomy.
